About estefania
I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Oaxaca, Mexico, surrounded by the rich culture and colors that have shaped me into who I am today. Yet, destiny had different plans for me when I ventured to the United States to pursue my passion for biochemistry in the beautiful state of Colorado. Little did I know, this decision would not only lead me to a world of scientific exploration but also to a serendipitous encounter with my soulmate, Michael.
As fate would have it, our paths crossed in a buzzing and charming Coffee shop in the heart of Boulder, CO. Our lives became intertwined in an inseparable bond of love and support. While I embarked on a thrilling journey in Minnesota for my graduate studies in neuroscience, delving into the depths of molecular biology, Michael embraced his aspirations by enlisting in the military as an EOD technician, stationed in sunny California.
Those years were undeniably challenging, testing the strength of our commitment to both our dreams and each other. The rigorous programs we pursued demanded determination and resilience, and the physical distance between us added an additional layer of difficulty. However, we refused to let these obstacles deter us from our shared vision of a life filled with love, growth, and fulfillment.
Time marched on, and in 2016, an unexpected opportunity arose, beckoning me towards an entirely new world waiting to be explored. After defending my Ph.D. thesis, I yearned for something beyond the confines of the laboratories. It was during this transformative period that I stumbled upon an article about an extraordinary woman teaching the art of flower farming. Intrigued by the concept, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and embark on a weekend workshop at Floret.
Little did I know that this seemingly minor adventure would ignite an undeniable passion within me, forever altering the course of our lives. The workshop at Floret resonated with me on a deep level, stirring my soul with the raw and unyielding beauty of nature. The idea of toiling under the open sky, nurturing delicate blossoms and witnessing their enchanting growth, felt like a breath of fresh air. Suddenly, the mundane routines of my laboratory days felt distant and inconsequential compared to the vast wonders that awaited me amidst the petals and foliage.
As my husband and I pondered our future together, contemplating the delicate balance between our growing family, my postdoctoral fellowship, and the wearisome daily commute, my heart yearned for a new direction. Unable to contain my overflowing enthusiasm, I entertained Michael with tales of my transformative experience at Floret. To my astonishment, he posed a simple but life-altering question: "Do you want to become a flower farmer?"
And so, with hearts brimming with hope and anticipation, we mustered the courage to take a leap of faith. We bid farewell to the hustle and bustle of city life, embracing a slower, more purposeful existence in pursuit of our dreams. Together, hand in hand, we ventured into the realm of flower farming, nurturing our crops as we simultaneously nurtured our growing family.
Today, I proudly embrace the roles that life has bestowed upon me. I am Estefania – a wife, a mother, a scientist turned flower farmer, an avid educator, student and artist. No longer confined to laboratory walls, I have found solace and profound joy in cultivating nature's delicate masterpieces. Each day, as I witness the colorful tapestry of blooms dancing beneath the sun, I am reminded of the remarkable journey that has brought us here – a journey defined by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to following our dreams.
And so, as the petals bloom and our family and farm continue to flourish, I am grateful for the winding path that has led me to this moment of profound contentment. Our story is still being written, but I am certain that the beauty and abundance of nature will forever be intertwined within each chapter, breathing life and vibrancy into our shared dreams.
